Starting from May 1, 2024, the Announcement on the Release of Three Catalogues of Health Food Raw Materials including Ginseng and the Administrative Measures for National Metrological Technical Specifications as well as a number of industry standards, local standards and other regulations and standards will be formally implemented.

Since May 1, 2024, ginseng, American ginseng and Lingzhi have officially launched the filing of health food. In December 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly issued the Announcement on the Release of Three Catalogues of Health Food Raw Materials including Ginseng, which stipulates that the raw material names and variety sources of ginseng, American ginseng and Lingzhi shall be consistent with the contents under the same varieties in the current Chinese Pharmacopoeia; for raw materials with multiple variety sources, the variety used shall be clearly clarified when filing the product; the growth years of ginseng are not limited. When filing the product, only unilateral raw materials can be used, and cannot be combined with other raw materials; the filer is allowed to mark one of the health functions, or both.

Since 2020, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Department of Special Food Safety Supervision and Administration have issued three approval dynamics for filed health function raw materials, and a total of 10 filed health function raw materials have been approved.
